Once upon a time, Isla was 6 months old. It was 3 days after Christmas, and we had a follow up on a biopsy for Taylor. The doctor handed us his diagnosis: MALT lymphoma. Our world was rocked. It’s the type of cancer most commonly found in geriatric patients, not a healthy, active 25-year-old. We drastically changed our lifestyle overnight in hopes of killing the cancer; we converted to an AIP diet, switched to essential oils and tossed anything toxic in our home. Fast forward 2 years: Isla broke out in hives and every single joint started to swell. Taylor was away for military training and I was at a loss as I saw the swelling balloon. Up until this point, she never had a reaction to anything. Thankfully, I had @mikobowen right down the street to keep me calm and “Sherlock” the possible triggers. We narrowed it down to one product: Lysol. Isla had caught a stomach virus and I decided to sterilize the house to prep for my sister to visit. I never used Lysol before but thought that I better bring out the big guns for our guests. After identifying it as the source of Isla’s reaction, I rewashed everything; I had sprayed that Lysol💩everywhere and basically had to re-wash the entire house. Isla didn’t have an outbreak after that, at least not until she had the same reaction to dryer sheets last month. After sharing that situation with you all, I had SO MANY of you tell me how toxic they actually are, and how essential oils on wool balls are the perfect substitute.
